DETROIT ’67 Interviews

9.15.2021 | by Wallace Bridges

“I’m a Detroiter.  Born–raised in Detroit.  I love Detroit!  … And, my consciousness at that time: I was so proud to be a Detroiter, because I was proud to come from Motown!”

— Shirley Madden, 2018

As part of the Detroit Theme Year events, Professor Wallace Bridges shares four audio interviews taken in 2018 when
he directed EMU Theatre’s production of Detroit ’67, a play written by Detroit native, Dominique Morisseau.

These four interviews include Detroit natives Linda Cardell, Frank Head, Dennis Talbert and Shirley Madden.
Offering diverse perspectives, they recall their lives during and following the 1967 Detroit Rebellion.
